Yuuki Asuna Armor Help

Hi Everyone,

I'm making a Yuuki Asuna Cosplay from Sword Art online. The character has both a sword and a breast plate that I need to make. This is my first time making any sort of sword or armor and I would really love some suggestions about materials and methods.
Here is some reference art to give you a better idea. http://swordartonline.wikia.com/wiki...suna_ACD_1.png

For the armor in all honesty, the easiest would be to buy a fencing guard (women's obviously) then just adding subtracting as needed. I got mine that had the "2 boobs" configuration (for a lack of better term) but they sell the kind similar to Asuna in the "1 boob" configuration. For the detailing you can use acrylic trim to make it really pop. A knife and a heat gun will be all that you need.

I've written several articles if you plan to fabricate the chest piece outright, it can be done, but it's just a lot of work (sanding, sanding and moar sanding really) http://junkerscosplay.blogspot.com/

You can see the acrylic trim on the bracer and upper arm armor.

@ StabbityBlkMage
That's an excellent idea, but the cosplay I'm doing does have cups for the chest. It's closer to a male breast plate, if that makes sense. But I definitely will keep this in mind.

@ Underdog1425
Thanks! I did some research and craft foam sounded the most promising. The videos seem extremely helpful.
