Gesso or Bondo??

Ok so I'm making armor and need to smooth it out since it's made out of wonderflex looking around ppl are suggesting Bondo and gesso, which one works more effectively =/ which do u recommend any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Bondo will smooth the surface out much more easily. Gesso is just a sealer and a primer, not a texture treatment. All it can do is fill very small holes.

Is bondo something what is used for cars after some accidents XD ? I'm from Europe and I try to understand correctly what is bondo in US X"D

Dream Hunter, yes that's what they're talking about, if you want to order some, just make sure that it says that it comes with the hardener (the little tube) because that's what gives the stuff its strength!

USE THE BONDO SPREADERS. I ruined a piece because I thought they were superfluous and just globbed it on with a wooden paint stick. The spreaders actually leave it smooth(er) so you stand a chance to sand it down to a reasonable surface.

We use the large popsicle sticks, you know the tongue depressers that doctors use/used?

Bondo will be much faster than gesso. Gesso you'll need to do many many layers to get a smooth finish, and you still won't have filled any larger divots.

Just bear in mind with bondo, you only have a limited time to get it on before it starts to cure. The more hardener you use, the faster it sets, and works the other way too.

Gesso would be the better option if you've got detailing on your armour, as bondo will be great for smoothing large areas but if you're trying to do it over a design it's just going to stuff everything up, whereas Gesso is much thinner and won't make your details disappear.
