--PLEASE HELP-- drills curls problem!
Okay so I am making a wig that has large drill curls.
This is how they need to look like http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets..._catherine.jpg I have been trying the wire inbetween the packaging type method, the problem is the wire isnt keeping its shape no matter what I do. I have looked at many methods on how to do drills curls and no one seems to have this problem. Right now I am using tacky-glue that dries clear, I was thinking of maybe using my hot glue gun but i dont really want to melt the hair. Im not sure what to do. |

What sort of wire are you using? Some types of wire just won't hold their shape like that.
Your hot glue gun would do two things: 1- Melt the crap out of your wig unless it's made from heat-resistant fibres 2- Turn it into a giant globby mess. Hot glue won't disguise itself like elmers or mod-podge. How are you keeping the wig in place while the glue dries? And how long are you leaving it to dry for? |

I'm planning on using it for a Kasane Teto wig ![]()

mayb something slightly thicker. its better to go into ur local craft store and feel the wires. if its hard to bend then thats going to be ur best bet. u want it hard enough that itll hold its shape but just soft enough that u can bend it by hand without a ton of effort

Actually 12 gauge is very thick your want something in the 16 gauge range and double that up in loops so that you gets strong but not at thick.
Floral wire is 26 gauge for reference and the lower the number the thick the wire is.

I've been trying for WEEKS to get Catherine's curls right and no technique is working for me. The next thing I'm going to try it to shape the wire and then kinda... glue the hair to it with wax and got2b. Haha. I'll let you know if I figure out something that works!

Is something like this good for making this curls?
http://www.widgetsupply.com/product/XJA103.html Its 16 gauge and the shipping price isnt bad. I dont have hobby stores around me so I cant really buy from those. If I were to get this id get two packages, I dont things 3 yards would be enough. |
