Walking down the stress, randomly.
I was on my way to a Fourth of July festival and lo and behold there was a random Butler!Grell just walking down the street.

Saw a pack of neon-haired schoolgirls at a bowling alley at my boyfriend-at-the-time's company outing. No idea who were cosplaying, never got the chance to ask.

I have BEEN the random cosplayer a couple of times. Hibiki from Fairy Tail at my local mall. Kaito from Fairy Cube at Burger King. Kurama from Kamisama Kiss at McDonalds (I've actually made many trips to the McDonald's across from my school in costume) and Hartia from Orphen at a Renaissance fair.

As for actually spotting people, I found a shadow link at the same Ren Fair, and I saw Zabuza at a McDonald's, but that was near the convention, so not that random.

I once saw a Itachi cosplayer at a bookstore.

It's not really a cosplay but looked more like a original character but I was at the library and this girl had a blue wig on and she was wearing a lot of anime merchandise. Naruto headbands, Death Note shirts, Di Gi Charat bag, the list can go on...

Me and my room mate saw a Storm Trooper at Little Ceaser's ordering a pizza once. It was pretty awesome. He was also covered in bows.

A few years ago now, back at my first year of university, I was walking in downtown Ottawa heading towards campus for a class. Et voila, there was a Naruto cosplayer...just walking on the sidewalk amongst the mass of people. And as far as I could recall, there wasn't a local con occuring. It was an interesting suprise!

There were more instances, but that one came to mind first.

I saw a girl in like a pirate-style outfit (yes, including a hat!) on the bus. I thought she looked neat.

Not so random, but when I went to see The Hobbit at midnight, there were a few cosplayers who looked cool (I actually expected to see more and was kinda disappointed there weren't as many XD). I mention this only 'cause I had never seen cosplay at a cinema before yet~

Not exactly cosplay, but a friend of mine and myself decided to wear our cat ears one day, so we were cosplaying. However....a guy came on the bus....with a shiny golden mullet wig that looked like it was made of party streamers XD!! My friend was all like, "And I thought I was weird with my cat ears".

It'd been a few months, but I saw a couple girls walking out of a WinCo in cosplay. They'd obviously just got out of a convention (KumoriCon, I think)... I guess that's one way of making grocery shopping a little more interesting.

a female pirate? thats new for me.

i got told i look like arragorn when i went to see the hobbit movie last night.

but i did go out to the mall in my cat ears and tail one time.

You and me both. xD I randomly cosplay as pokemon trainers or Kagamine Rin just for the heck of it sometimes. And most of the time we end up at a Walmart or fast food place. And of course the nearest con is about 100 miles away so no one around here is used to cosplayers at all. lol

Not really cosplay I think, but I saw someone with a long turquoise wig at Wal-mart today going to the Redbox inside. Lol, unless it was her actual hair just colored, but pretty sure it was a wig. I thought it was cool, but she was definitely getting some stares from people

I remember I went to a local mall with my sister and our three friends. We were all dressed as Death Note characters, with me being Misa, my sis being Mello, and our friends being Matt, near, and L. The shocking thing was, which I spotted before the others, is we found ANOTHER 2 cosplayers as Matt and Mello. We walked by them and they were like "No way... O_O" We all hung out that day and ran amuck in a toy store and got chinese food

Was awesome!

hmm I go out every single day as a neo Victorian Gothic Lolita lol. If I have to take public transit though I will leave the big aristocrat dress with the hoop at home. It tends to get in the way on the bus lol i have not had the guts to go out as a pink Lolita yet though. That might be pushing it lol
