At Shadocon 2012, I lost my wallet in the dealers room at a booth. I didn't notice till after the con was over. I contacted the booth and they said they turned it into the con owner. I called him, which then he said he gave it to the hotel. I called the hotel and they 'apparently' didn't have it. I don't know who was lying but my bets are on the hotel (I heard that the staff was terrible that weekend) or the Shadocon employees (who was also not up to par)

Oh I remember one. Back during Otakon, our room had 10 people (not including yours truly) and it was fit for about half of that. So after the first night (space was so limited I had to literally prop my lower half up against a wall) I had the bright idea to try and sleep in the fitness center the place we stayed in had downstairs.
SO after succeeding for like, an hour. I awake to see a hotel staffer staring at me. I guess he thought I was either 1: a vagrant 2: crazy or 3: both, so after talking with him for a few minutes he decided to "escort" me back to my room, which was bad because I remember being told not to let any hotel staff know how many people we really had in the room. Luckily my friends had locked the door so the key card wouldn't open it, and I convinced him to go away so as to not disturb anyone. I then proceeded to enjoy a wonderful hour of sleep after all this. Crisis averted but man did I feel like a chode. |

At an A-Kon convention one year I was dressed as Prussia, and got my butt groped by a France cosplayer.
I was only 15 so it was fairly bad for me. :c

Fan Expo Canada 2010:
Terribly booked con. It was in a smaller venue than normal which led to the fire marshal stepping in prevent a fire hazard. Thus, you had a ton of really pissed off con goes waiting in ridiculously long lines to get in. Anime North 2012: Lost the frames to my glasses. I popped the lenses out and used the frames as a prop. Affected me the whole con as I treated my roommate very poorly and regretted it completely. FrostCon 2013 - Never really heard of a con that banned WOOD weapons. So when I got to the venue holding my two bokkens and saw a sign that said "No Wood Weapons," I was very shocked. Luckily they had a coat check so I could put them there.

![]() AX2002 was in the Disneyland hotel, and I was able to go only one day because my ex and I had just had our daughter and couldn't afford to go the whole weekend. We only went to a couple of panels, and the food at the hotel was ridiculously expensive. Also, when we went to the dealers room, there was no hentai manga or anything for anyone over 18. Turns out the day before, some kid had wandered into an 18+ booth and his mom found out and raised a stink, so Disney had threatened to get the dealers room closed unless all 18+ material was removed. AX 2012 was actually the best time I've had at a con, in spite of half the streets being closed down. However, on the night of Day 3, there were rumors of a girl being abducted, which had everyone on edge for the rest of the evening. To this day I'm not sure if she actually did get abducted or just went home on her own. As for ALA... well, something always seems to happen every time I go. In 2010 I went to the Bleach gathering in shinigami cosplay and some of us went to Denny's afterward. One of the Ukitake cosplayers was kind enough to spot me for dinner, as I was short of cash and did not have my ATM card with me, and I agreed to pay her back the next day. However, on the train to the con the next day, I lost my wallet and had forgotten my badge at home, so I had no money and couldn't even get in anyway. I tried to communicate with her, but it turned out she was driving home later that evening so I was unable to pay her back. I felt so stupid. So, Kendra, wherever you are, I'm sorry, and I owe you dinner. In 2011 I was recovering from surgery so I could only go to ALA for one day, and I was slow and in pain for much of it. I did get to meet Helen McCarthy and got her autograph, but I lost it! I also lost my copy of Moyashimon I bought in the dealers' room. This year at ALA was mostly OK, but our friend who was going to get a room for several people had trouble with his card and they ended up giving him a 1 bed room for 7 people. They apologized and upgraded him to a larger room, the next day. Also, another friend who had come from out of town specifically for the con ended up in the middle of some personal drama so we didn't see much of him, unfortunately. And the girls I stayed with all ended up catching the flu, as did many attendees this year. |

I forgot to mention, Day 4 of AX '12 was kind of a bust, as I missed the last Hetalia gathering of the con because the bus that was supposed to take me there from the hotel was an hour late. And I could only stay for a couple hours because I had to go to the viewing of one of my childhood friends, who had died of a heart attack over the weekend.

During one fine summer day in 2012, I thought it would be great to wear heels that match my cosplay to the con. Little did I know, I just bought my first set of heels 3 weeks prior. My feet hurt so much, I cried walking to the car. Unluckily, the X-Games were at the same convention, my mom had to pick me up 5 blocks away from the convention center. It still pains to remember.

Worst thing, a young girl being sexually harassed and assaulted in an elevator. I got to witness the elevator opening to her alone just crying her eyes out. I have never had such a twisted taste in my mouth after hearing her story.
Worst thing happening to me, some guy rushing through the lobby of a crowded hotel bumped into me and knocks my flash off my camera and it hits the floor breaking. Kinda sucks having a $300+ piece of equipment break. What made it worse was this was within the first hour I was in the lobby Friday Morning. They guy didn't stop. |
