All-Mecha Crossover Shoot?

HEAR YE HEAR YE

I have noticed that a lot of mecha/space opera series that perennially have nice cosplayers don’t have shoots planned this year. To correct this terrible injustice, I wanted to set up a catch-all whole-genre meet-up. Please make room on your calendars for…

MECHA MEET-UP 2013
Saturday, 4PM, Gazebo

This meetup is for cosplayers from all mecha/giant robot/sci-fi/space opera/power armor series.

Why?
So fans of the same genre can hang out, to make it easier to get shots of all the mecha cosplayers, to get a group shot, to shoot crossover shenanigans, and possibly to make SRW jokes.

Plus, character designs in mecha anime have a lot of unique aesthetics with challenging construction (flight suits, power armor, nonsensical uniforms), so a lot of really cool cosplay should be in one place.

Don’t miss this chance to get shots with other cosplayers from your mecha/space opera series!

Who?

You.

Please consider “mecha/giant robot/sci-fi/space opera” construed broadly. In anime terms, some (just some!) of the mecha series I’ve seen at DC-area cons include:

- Gundam
- Macross
- Evangelion
- Geass
- Harlock/Galaxy Railways/miscellaneous Matsumoto
- Star Driver
- Ghost in the Shell
- Idolm@ster
- Outlaw Star
- Escaflowne
- Xenosaga
- Aquarion
- Eureka Seven
- Gunbuster/Diebuster
- Rahxephon
- LoGH
- T&B
- Etc., etc., etc.

If there are robots in the show, stop by!

It would also be fun to see cosplayers from western space opera without series-specific meets – Firefly, Trek, etc.

What?

I envision getting a big group shot, then series shots, then maybe some character shots, then maybe some goofy crossover or group shots (“Villains!” “Gainax!” “Ladies!”) depending on the turnout.

(There will not be any Gundam-only shots. If TTGL and T&B get their own Saturday photoshoots off the ground, there will also not be any series-only shots for them either.)

Where? When?

I already answered those! See you there!

I'd be up for it, as long as it didn't overlap with the Gundam shoot of course. I plan to be in my respective mecha series cosplay (Harry Ord from Turn A Gundam) virtually all weekend so I would be able to join this shoot on any day it happens to be.
