Fish-And-Chips: WOW that's a lot of games!
Given by your post in the other forum, I can tell that you're already playing Prof. Layton and loving it, haha. I played Trauma Center and Skyward Sword a while back, and both of them were awesome. The World Ends With You is phenomenal-- really dynamic characters and a wicked awesome battle system to boot! Enjoy those!

My one friend got me the Grimmerie for Christmas. As in, that super awesome Wicked book thing and ;DLSKFJSDLKF IT'S SO PRETTY My best friends all came over last night and we exchanged gifts and such and it was fun! :3 My one friend really liked the Hello Kitty hat and hipster glasses, and the other three liked the stuffed Tardises I made. Well okay I only finished one and the others need roofs so I need to do that. But still, it's a load off.

I wasn't expecting a game this good for $10, but then again I usually like most of what Atlus produces. I'm not sure what to expect of Skyward Sword; I haven't started it yet, and I've never played a LoZ game in it's entirety. I started Ocarina of Time a month ago or so, but I didn't get very far into it because I have so many games to play. XD

I'm doing most of my gift exchanging on new year's, since xmas was spent away with awkward family. But the gifts I have recieved thus far have ALL been *completely* unexpected and amazing.
- $50 Joanne's gift card - Hobbit posters (the ones they gave for the midnight showings) - MLP posters - Winter gloves that can handle touch screens

my mom compained about spening $20s on me while she spent over $150 on a gift for herself. and she got me more of what she thought i needed than i asked for and im glad she got me all that and some of that stuff is from my reletives but i just wish she could have gotten me the one thing she knew i wanted. i spent $50 on her and i just wanted to get one more thing..that id actually use...

It isn't that you don't appreciate receiving a gift, it's that it's blatantly obvious that someone was giving you gifts out of obligation and clearly did not care about you in picking them out.

Or when they get you a gift when they know utter crap-all about you. So it's a huge shot in the dark if you'll like it. Once one friend of my Mom's for Xmas bought me a MIDRIFF top. When I was ELEVEN, and a chubby kid who already didn't care for showing off skin, to boot. Fortunately she also gave the receipt so I exchanged it for something I'd actually wear.

For anyone who isn't familiar with what a midriff top is, they're essentially tops that are cut off under the breast line and show the midsection. They come in various lengths but the most popular sold for young people look something like this: No, they are not meant to be worn with a tanktop under them. MOST young girls who wear them are forced to wear something under them but I'd say it's still a bit inappropriate to give to someone else's child.

Yeah. I was an early developer but I was the farthest thing from a girl who wanted to look sexy. I was bookish as hell and dressed like a lolita when I was eight and nine...
Also, it wasn't a REALLY short midriff, it stopped just above my belly button, but yeah, not appropriate and even if I'd wanted to wear it, it was winter and completely not allowed at school. So I exchanged it for a fuzzy sweater instead.

I think my cousins wear tank tops under them, but not because they're told to, it's because they like those shirts and are modest too. So it's a compromise.

It's just a crappy feeling that I am sure a lot of us can relate to at some point. It's why I believe gift giving should be done because the giver wants to and enjoys making others feel good. Not because they feel obligated and then resentful of what they view as a burden. A lot of times people also seem to value gifting to the younger crowd as more important, I tend to be a little opposite of that.
I feel that young children do not need to be showered with gifts and come to believe that gifts are equal with love so they come to expect and demand presents constantly. That doesn't mean you shouldn't give to younger kids but I think as a whole we put far too much emphasis on getting a 8 year old everything she wants because it will destroy their fragile innocent minds if we don't. I'd rather spend more money on an adult who I know would appreciate the gift versus buying a hoard of trinkets for a small child that won't remember who gave them what by the next day.
