Hi, I'm not sure if this will be seen soon or if this is the place to post it but:

Could San Japan replace the Oni-con board?

Oni-con is a very small convention now, that doesn't update very often at all..
I think San Japan would be a better replacement, since it's more popular as well.

As the chair, I wanted to look into this. I wouldn't push to replace Oni's board since I wouldn't want to push out a fellow Texas convention.

We do have some things going for us like being in the top 15 largest anime cons in the US (according to animecons.com) and rising popularity.

I just wasn't sure who I needed to nudge about getting a separate board.

Proz ~ I'll actually be attending San Japan this year for the first time, and I was wondering how big San Japan is? Like, do you have an approximate # of attendees from last year?

And as far as getting your own board, you have to PM Admin, he's the only one who can create new boards, but with all of the site renovations he's trying to do, he may be slow to respond to you.

2012 Attendance was 9464.

Yeah, San Japan keeps getting bigger and bigger. I remember when it was in a tiny auditorium hall (which I think is torn down now) in the beginning, and now it's being held at the convention center.

I'm very impressed with how large SJ has grown, and look forward to attending every year.

You are correct, we started in the Municipal Auditorium & El Tropicano Hotel for 2 years before having to move to the Marriott then finally into the HBG Convention Center. We only took up 20% of the HBG in 2012 but will be getting more over time.

By 2015, we will be in nearly 50% of the HBG. That might not seem like much but the HBG is in the top 20 largest convention centers in the US, bigger than Otakon's Convention Center (and the HBG will be growing in 2015/16).
