Miss Martian (so far)

Actual Miss Martian:

And then my costume:

Suggestions on improving or general feedback would be very much appreciated! Only costume opinions, as evidently my hair is not a part of this at the moment. (Haven't quite gotten my green skin down to a science, either, but I'm working at it!)

Thanks!

Ben nye is your friend for the Green skin, as are green tights (Welovecolors has some).
I was painted green once for a skit from Elphaba from Wicked. I used a small cake of Ben Nye color and it didn't even take the whole cake. Of course always use a sealer when using body make-up.

Now costume wise it looks great! We can't really say the cape so I can't say anything about that but the one thing I did notice was the gold clasp on the belt looks too flat. Is it just a piece of fabric? I'd suggest using a 3d object. It would make it look more real. I personally, would use half of a Fillable Ornament. If you paint the inside of it then put some puffy foam (It's used to fill gaps between pipes and walls and such, you can find it at a hardware store) it will seal the paint in and then put a safety pin on it or hot glue it to the belt it should look a bit more realistic. (:

Over all this is a great start! (:

Yes, I have ironically already bought the Ben Nye cake makeup! I've been working with it, and it's great, but I'm just sorting out whether or not I want to contour and to what extent. As for my arms, I have PAX, and I'd also planned to pick up some tights and dye them, but thank you for the tip!

Also, thanks for the idea about the belt buckle! It is just painted on to the t-shirt, because I was at a loss for what else to do with it. Thank you, though!

Looks good to me so far. Though I like the idea about the globe for the belt (is that even a belt? It looks like it's part of the character's shirt).

I would definitely recommend a skin suit for the body color. It seems like painting your body would be a real pain, and it would rub off. Most people I know that play characters with a different body color use a thin body suit and use matching makeup for their face. It saves time, money and it wont rub off so badly that way.

I agree with the others on the belt needing to be 3D and im not sure if its your picture but it looks like the red on the shirt should be a deeper red. Other than that you did an awesome job!

Yeah, that is the one thing I can attest to is that it's just the lighting that makes the red look orange-y, it's red haha

Rather than painting your arms and legs or shelling out the money for a body suit, you can use a second pair of tights in the same color for your arms (that is if you find them in the right color; with green you might actually have better luck with a body suit). It seriously cuts out like half of the prep time and is less area to worry about smearing or rubbing off. Plus I like that tights aren't super shiny like spandex suits can be. Then the challenge is matching tights to your face paint.

I managed to find tights that matched my blue face paint at Target. Since it is right after Christmas there might just be green tights in clearance. It's just something to keep an eye out for.
