So Im a senior in high school and for my senior project/upcoming convention I'm making cosplays for 2 of my friends. (plus myself of course but that's not important)
So i need some info for the research part of my project.

I need to solve these problems

1. My friends live clear across the state so i cant fit them as I create the patterns
2. I have VERY LITTLE experience in making cosplays for other people.

So how should I use the measurements I get to make their cosplays and have them actually fit???

Personally, I'd be inclined to ask them to make duct-tape mannequins of themselves, plus get a thorough list of measurements off them for drafting your patterns.
If you don't want to go full body, I'd suggest torso (to the upper bicep and upper thigh) mannies.

Muslin prototypes mail quite easily. Have them take pictures in the rough-draft pieces and write on them while wearing them to allow you to tinker with the patterns.
