How to make a gardeners fork?

Hello everyone,

I am trying to make a fork for a recent cosplay I am working on. The costume is 90% done but I have one main feature I am confused how to make.

The character has a fork and I'd love to have it as a prop but I am clueless on how to start. I have decided I can use a broom for the base but the actual forks I have no idea how to make. I obviously can't buy a real fork as its too dangerous so does anyone know how I can make it?

id use a 7in by 1ft board and cut out the space between the tines
then file down the under-side of the ends to make the barb like protrusions

or take a 7x2in block drill some relativly large holes then take some square dowels and tap them in, its square peg round hole so youll want to fill the gap with a woodglue sawdust paste
or putty

If you don't work with wood, you have a lot of options like insulation foam, spray foam, cardboard, foamboard, and other various materials. Making it from either foam board or cardboard would be easier. Just cut out two replicas of the fork and you can reinforce it with wooden dowels or sandwich more cut outs together. Then once done, coat it. Whether it be gesso, plasti dip, mod.podge, or I like to.use poster board. Seems more cleaner to me. But! goodluck!

Thank you both.

I have Correx, do you think that would work? If not I can probably easily get cardboard.
