So, I'm very, very new to cosplay, and I really just want to dive right in. I've been tasked with making props for both me and my brother's cosplay, but I'm not quite sure what materials I need to make them. I've bought two items to use as the base for the props, but I want to know what items(i.e. specific paints, fabrics, materials, etc) I can/need to use to alter them to look like the weapons the characters are using in the references I've provided below. I know a lot of people use craft foam to make their props. Would that be appropriate for this project. Also, below the reference pictures, I've provided an attachment image for the bases I'll be using. I apologize in advance if I'm not clear enough, but I would be very grateful for any information you can give me. Thanks for helping a noobie out.

for the gloves ur going to have to use spray insulation foam, extruded polystyrene or foam batting. i prob wouldnt have started with those gloves since ur hand will now have to stay in the position the whole time, but since you already have it, stick w it. as for the gun, id prob build it up with paper mache or paper clay.

Thanks for your response, animenerd. Yeah, I'm sure there was a better choice for the gloves, but I saw the Hulks Hands on a commercial and figured it might work. I probably should have initially asked these questions, but where should I look to find these items and are there any tutorials that explain how to apply the aforementioned?

all the materials can be found at michaels, joanns, and home depot/lowes.......
check cosplaytutorial.com or search up kaumi cosplay (she has carving tutorials)
