Skuld from Ah! my goddess

I'm about to start making my cosplay of Skuld from Ah my Goddess for Anime Matsuri 2013. I plan on making it as a strapless high-low dress. I wanted to try using a pattern for once but I'm not good at looking for patterns. I never made a strapless high-low dress before and wanted to get some advice on it. What should I start with first? I want the bottom of the dress to flow like in the picture here:http://www.yesmybride.com/uploads/pr...ding-dress.jpg
How would I do that? Should I just kind of eye it the cut on the front of the dress and make sure its even?

I recently just made a duct tape dress form to also help me out. I plan on making the wings as well.

For the wings, I will be making a corset to put underneath the dress to use as the base. My bf is in charge of the wings so he wanted me to make a corset.

Pictures I found on google: http://www.oocities.org/tokyo/4324/amg17c.jpg

Sorry if my questions are not clear. I need help.

The dress you linked looks nothing like the character you linked, are you going for an interpretation?

Mccalls has this mullet dress pattern
http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m670...php?page_id=96

However it would help if you linked to an actual image of the characters dress you want to make. We dont really need a random image of the character unless its of the dress you are wanting to duplicate from the series.

the skuld pic i link is the dress I plan on doing. Its from the artbook so I dont have different views of her in that dress. The wedding dress picture I linked is how I want the bottom of half of the dress to flow but I want on making it long and drag a bit on the floor..

Thanks o01101011 for the link for the pattern. Its what I wanted.

Can you guys give me advice on how to do the designed on the dress? Can I just use fabric paint? I want to make it look a little shiny.

Ah, the art book dress isn't sleeveless, just fyi.
Here is a much bigger version

And another view of it from another art book image

With the pattern I linked, you will need to straighten out the neckline, and add sleeves attached to the side panels at the bottom of the sleeve.

Thanks for the pictures! That helped! I plan on making the sleeves not connected to the dress.

Do u have any advice on how I should do the blue designs on the dress? Should I just paint it?
