Sometimes I have a cosplay that I want to make...

but don't want to actually cosplay. Is that weird? Like sometimes they're crossplays which is part of it, but I really want to make a genderbend!Mami cosplay that wears lederhosen and I really want to make Dave Strider's red plush tux out of like minky or fleece or something. Its a hard life I live. u_________u;;

No, it isn't weird. There are plenty of cosplays I want to do not for the sake of cosplaying them or doing it well, but for the sake of just having the clothes/wigs for them. The wigs will be my downfall I swear OTL

If one of the main things you love about cosplay is the construction process itself, I see no reason not to go ahead and make those things? They may be clothes, sure, but there's no reason they can't be a display piece more than anything else, right?

Maybe you can find someone who wants to dress as those very characters, or maybe you'll find you do want to wear the costume once it's actually finished.

Yeah, I think that's probably what I'll have to do because I really don't need a pair of lederhosen, I feel like they wouldn't flatter my figure very well xD;;

I'm sure I know someone who is as dorky as me haha

I'm interested in cosplay 50% fort the fun of being someone else and 50% fort the sewing/crafting part. I love sewing per se and I love taking time to get the details right and being able to not cut corners, even if it won't show from the outside.

I feel like that a lot. For instance, right now I think it'd be super fun to make a Skuld (Ah! My Goddess) cosplay, but I'd never wear it because it wouldn't suit me well appearance and age wise. It would just be really fun to draft and construct! Maybe you can find a friend who wants to wear the cosplays you make, or you could even try to sell them or something.
