whimsicott green bits

im making a roughly 15" across Whimsicott prop, and as it's a plant type pokemon it makes sense that the green 'horns' and green star on the back would be plant flesh/material. i want these bits to have as plant like a finish as i can make, iv been thinking about using something like green Sugru silicon putty which cures to a rubbery finish but it would be expensive to get enough to cover a 4" star and both the horns. Does anyone have other (cheaper) suggestions achieve a similar finish?

Bando should be fine.

after building the base, just put on a small layer and modify it to your liking of a plant like surface. Everything is just in the detail work of chipping and sanding.

I think what Midnight Dawn was referring to was Bondo.

Bondo is a brand here in the U.S. The generic type would be car body filler. I'm not sure it would give a finish like you want though. I would advise basing it on bondo and then coating the outside with that rubber you mentioned. Or an alternative material would be plasti-dip, which creates a rubber finish and would only be probably $10 for enough for the whole prop. You wouldnt be able to carve out of it, you'd have to cover the bondo in it, but it comes in a bunch of colors and it could work for your purpose.

plasti dip looks pretty good, so versatile and a decent range of colours too...
