Temporary "downsizing?"
So, I bought a costuming, knowing that it was going to be a little tight (it's made of spandex), and it's actually not nearly as tight as I had feared. It doesn't look "bad" at all, but my one issue is that, because it's a dress, my lower stomach is...er..."accentuated" in a bad way. It's not a problem that won't fix itself, I suppose (I do work out), but I know for a fact that it won't be fixed by the next convention.
I really don't want to make modifications to the costume for numerous reasons. So, I was just wondering if any of you other cosplayers had this same issue and had a quick fix for it that doesn't require hacking up my costume? :/ |

Are you wearing shapewear?
With all of my costumes I always wear shapeware/dancewear. It helps keep things in place. (: This is kinda like what I have. |

I'm gonna agree with the shapewear idea. I wear a lot of it under my costumes to make sure everything is smooth and nice looking.

Is that shapewear only to downsize a little bit? or does it work on bigger people too? Right now I need to flatten A LOT I bought a tanktop style one but it didn't do anything..Like literally my measurements didn't even change..Not even a CM..So I'm not sure how well those things would work for me..

If you get the right shapewear, it should reduce some. It's not going to take a ton off, but I know I can usually shape my waist down about an inch or two in the casual one I wear. And it's just like I tell people when I make corsets for them: it can only take off so much before that excess that was compressed does have to to somewhere, and that somewhere is out the top and bottom of the shaper or corset.

What shape wear primarily does is smooth things out. But like anything, if the shape wear itself doesn't fit, it can actually accentuate what you want to hide making things look worse and not better.
