Too "Babyfaced" to cosplay older guys?/Dimples?

I've been having trouble achieving the "masculine" look.
What do you think? How can this be helped? Etc...
I have dimples too, which doesn't really help at all. They're like personal photobombs. D:

Look at some of the female to male makeup tutorials on deviantArt. They can give you an idea on how to go about contouring your face, and how to do eye makeup. Good luck!

Let me just say this...keep in mind this is coming from a "babyfaced" guy.
Makeup is magical.
Seriously.
I've yet to really out grow my baby face...friends showed me how to use the makeup, and it's become the age guessing game at every convention.
The only trick I need to learn is how to keep the stuff On throughout conventions lol.
On another note though...if you really like a character, just go for it. Cosplay is supposed to be fun c:

Ohhh my god you have such an adorable face though *o*
You would do amazingly as Shouma Takakura or Isana Yashiro.
Though makeup really does wonders!!

LOL omg I laughed so hard at that, I've never heard that before, that's brilliant XDD

But anyway, to help some ... XD One thing that will help is your wig, if you shape your wig to kind of 'hug' your face, it'll hide some of that 'babyface' and make your face look longer, and therefore, less round.

As for the dimples, you can't see them when you're not smiling, and most masculine guys in animes don't smile, lol. However, if you do like a smirking pose, and one of your dimples shows, you could always creatively bring your hand to your face in a way it fits with the picture, and just make sure that the tip of your finger or something is covering your dimple.

THANK YOU!!! I dk why guys are so opposed to wearing make up (I tried to get my bf to wear a DAB of make up at our last con cuz he had a zit coming in ... so did not happen) it doesn't make you immediately gay or anything. But kudos to you to doing it and not being ashamed to admit it!

Yes on what everyone said. If you feel so inclined, look up a couple tutorials on contouring (for manliness) and see where that gets you.

I'm not opposed to using the stuff to enhance my cosplays. XD For me at least, I got sick of my face ruining good photos. Besides...when you think about it...even actors wear a ton of makeup in movies.
I'm kind of at the point where any new tricks I can learn to help me improve, I'll figure them out.
Kudos to girls who wear the stuff every day though.

I didn't think about the wig thing either, but...that does also make a good bit of sense

That makes sense, I mean, if there's something you can do to improve your cosplay, why not do it?
Haha, yeah really, I use to wear it every day in high school, now I'm like 'god, this is so much work, how did I ever do this every day?' ... *is a lazy ass XD*

I've found it helps, I use to have a super round face when I was younger, and since I've been cosplaying since I was 14, there was definitely a lot of babyfat to hide XD

Oh! I remembered another thing.

Angles.

How you hold your head, how your angle your face...it makes a difference. As does posture and how you pose. It's different for everyone, so you'd have to see which angles work best for you....which means...lots of awkward head tilting at the mirror for a while *lol XD*
But that does seem to help. I'm trying to think of anything else so I can stop spamming up the thread all the time

I second the make-up suggestion.

Also, try posing in front of a mirror and finding the best angle to hide the roundness of your face. Search for tips to elongate your face.

I have to say I faced the same problem as you not too long ago. My face is super round, and, while I'm thankful my pudginess only gives me a rounder face and nothing worse, it does make it really discouraging on the off chance I end up wanting to cosplay a manly man. Although I haven't ever used makeup to contour my face, I assure you putting hair around your cheeks and face does help. I've done this both with all my wigs AND my own hair; the improvement is ridiculous. Also, if you're being a cocky male, tilting your head at an angle can really help mask your face shape, and smirks tend to make you look older and a little bit manlier no matter what. This really depends on your character, though.
My best advice is, if you want to cosplay a manly character but aren't sure about it, contour your face or put your hair around your face to hide the shape and try to mimic their expressions in the mirror at different angles. Eventually you'll find one that looks really good on you- learn what you like about it, memorize it, and try some more. It really does take practice.
Good luck to you though! (^_^)/
