Bilbo Wig, Anyone?
Long time cosplayer, first time poster!
Okay, so I'm working on a Bilbo Baggins costume from the Hobbit movie, and I'm having the toughest time finding the right wig! I tried a wig from Arda, but it was too flat and not the right color. The hairstyle looks like this: ![]() The wig I was looking at next was Arda's Benny: http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/012...large.jpeg?844 I'm still looking for as close to "perfect" as I can. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

I know the colour used by some is Sandy Brown and they style one of the wigs with curlers to get the messy hair look.

Yeah, I pretty much got that same one, but I ended up melting it because curlers would work, and neither would the curling iron. I experimented with a bunch of stuff, but I think a prestyled wig will be my best bet.

I guess it wasn't melting, per se, but it definitely got fried. It was a combination of curling, not liking that curl, brushing it out, curling again, hair spraying, curling over hair spray, oh crap oh crap oh crap why is there smoke...Ya know. ^_^;

I was really confused. Aha curling over hair spray I think isn't good for any hair fiber or real. |

I agree. After much trial and error. I was just having such a hard time getting the curls to spray, I thought "yeah, this will make 'em stick!" I was...kind of right? Heh.

Was it the Sandy Brown that you ordered that wasn't right, or another colour?
I've sometimes hairsprayed my own hair, curled, then sprayed again if I was trying to hold a style somewhere ridiculously humid, but yeah probably not the healthiest thing I've done ![]() |

Yeah, I think I ordered dark blonde? I have no idea (and frankly I'm too lazy to check atm). My perception of his hair color was skewed, and I totally thought he was blonde, but I believe that was from watching too much Sherlock...

CRAP. The wig I planned to get from The Five Wits won't be here in time for my event. Does anyone know of other good wigs? The color is really throwing me off...

Check Arda's Facebook page. Hope styled a Pippin wig out of the Glinda style in Dark Copper Red. It might work for Bilbo also.

Actually, Arda's Jaguar wig in the shade Sandy Brown would be easier to style. And the color looks a bit closer. Trim the long pieces and curl the wig with skinny foam curlers.

Any method you'd recommend to curl it? I used curlers and hairspray, and even a curling iron wouldn't work. :?
