Senbonzakura KAITO Help?

Reference: Concept Art, and PDf Module

Now, onto the questions! (ノ ̄ー ̄)ノ

The jacket appears to have similar weight and drape to a kimono, but I doubt silk would be practical, so I was thinking about using Broadcloth, or just cotton for everything. But I'm rubbish with choosing fabric and was hoping someone could recomend something better...

Are there any tutorials or patterns to make the hat? Or one similar to it? Or a specific real life hat I could rip apart and use as a pattern?

Aaannnd, what brand of fabric paint doesn't dry really stiff and gross? I need it for the flowers on the sleeves.

Thanks for the help! I'm sure I'll have more questions soon... >_>;

I would say use twill. It'll hang nicely and I feel like broadcloth would be too light to use for a military-esque outfit like this.

For the hat, you could search around "captain's hat". The hat that usually comes up is white but there is bound to be something you could use.

Can't really help much with the paint though. :/

Twill huh? Thank you touchmon, I'll see if I can find some.

A Russian Baltic Fleet cap, that's the closest I could find. But nothing on how to make one... ;_;
Aah...guess it's time for the mock-ups, screw-ups, and rage-quits untill I find somehing that works...

Aah...thanks.

So apparently the hat is called a peaked cap, and I managed to find a pattern/tutorial! XD
Here's the link if anyone wants it: brassgoogles.co.uk

Test hat is finally done! And I found some good fabric, but what could I use for the hat's visor and the black band around the head? I'm thinking that shiny black vinyl you get around Halloween, (or creepy-fetish-vinyl, as I call it), but I doubt that would look how I want.
Any other suggestions? Thanks!!
