Sheik OoT

I would like to see what my fellow cosplayers think of my Sheik cosplay so far. I am still working on the arm wraps and chest wrap to make them easier to put on and take off. Right now the chest wrap and arm wraps I have to have someone tie them on for me which is a pain so I am working on making them with velcro closures.
I did buy this from another member here, but it needed some major upgrades. It started as a full one piece body suit that was very hard to get on and off. I separated the calf and foot part of the body suit and attached them to a pair of boots to make them their own piece. I also separated the hand guard parts from the body suit and attached them to molded plastic to keep them stiff and form to the curve of my hand. I still need to add the white trim to the hand guards. The head wrap was completely made by me and custom fit to my head with the wig on. The I decided to use has more natural looking highlights and lowlights to give a more realistic appearance. I do have red contacts in you just can not see them in the shots I have.
The harp was a successful first attempt at using a material that is new to me. It is super light weight and fairly durable. I decided not to make it have a super smooth finish and left it a little rough to give it more of a worn appearance. The strings are elastic so you "pluck" them and they will return to their original state.
These pictures were taken just a few days ago when it was freezing cold outside so we didn't stay for to long. They are the best of what we got that day.

Great job on the harp especially for starting with the material. It does look slightly small but it's detail is nice. I love the color you picked for the hair. It's more natural and fits better than super fake gold like in the game. Her bandages don't look frayed in the game I think but I think your version looks nice also since it seems more worn and you did that to your harp so it matches together. =)

Exactly it brings more realism to it rather then everything being perfectly smooth and white.

I think you made the right choice in getting the natural-looking wig. That with the fraying on the bandages and talbard give it a pretty realistic look. You can really see the texture of the head wrap and talbard in the second picture, too. Cheers, Ends. You've done a good job.

I agree with the realism thing, i likes it. the costume looks well constructed too-- I would be tempted to give the costume more of a battle-worn look though, since you did this with the bandages. maybe photoshop some dirt on the pics first to see what it would look like.. the bandages look worn and maybe old but the rest of the costume looks super clean in comparison

If you don't mind me asking what did you do for your shoes...I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how to do my shoes for my Sheik costume.
I love yours, a lot of good choice made, I don't know that personally even with the frayed bandages that I would dirty up the rest of the costume....The white is still bright and doesn't look dirty or worn in anyway. and let's face it fabric naturally frays I think it give it a very realistic feel. Well done!

The shoes for Sheik are actually boots with a lycra material (bathing suit type material) stretch over them of course sew in the proper pattern and glued into position.

As far as dirtying it up naturally over the course of cons and such it has gotten some wear and discoloration. Just this past week I added a new grass stain to the right leg. >.> which the photographer promptly tried to remove with a tide-to-go pen until I objected. XD

I also found three more holes that need patching...such is the nature of stretchy material when it is pulled. I do have more newer photos in my DA gallery if anyone wants to view more.

I like your newest photos much better. Your costume has a nice ruggedness to it that it did not have before.

Yeah that's the good thing about wearing it for a few years. It weathers over time.

A nice side effect of the usual wear and tear of a costume.
