Original take on Villains

How do you guys feel about putting you own unique touch on a already pre-existing character. I have always been fascinated with villains and only cosplay them (no super heroes or good guys here). I have a few ideas on completely changing Bane. I wasn't a huge fan on Nolan's version and wanted to do my own for the next convention. How do you think this will come across in the cosplay community? This is my first post on this message board! So glad I found it.

I honestly like some changes people make as long as it is within character. One time I changed the type of buttons on a cosplay since I really did not like the style of the ones the character had. Some people might ask you about it though. Welcome to the forums by the way!

I think it's very interesting to see when people get creative with their designs and add details or a personal touch. AU versions can be cool, too, but as Elleyferranis said, it's rather important to stay within the boundaries of the character to remain recognizable.
However, if the changes are just to cut corners, it'll usually be noticeable in a not so positive way. (Not that I think you're doing that.)

As a DC comics fan who love to read the Elseworld comics, I say as long as it recognizable as Bane it should be fine

Thanks for everyone's feedback. In creating my version of Bane I used the following ideas.

1 - venom
2 - a life of hardship (in prison since he was a child)
3 - he was able to discover who Bruce Wayne was (Batman)
4 - superior intellect and strength
5 - he broke the bat

I am using all of these ideas in creating a new version of him. I hope it comes out the way I envision it will. I might have to debut it at Dragon Con!
