Just to get my Canti costume to "done" (actually about 98%, but enough to wear) was about $800.

$160 on polycarbonate platic sheet
$360 in electronics (LCD TV, computer monitor, batteries, camera, Arduino board, DVD player, various other audio/video components, sensors, and IC chips)
$40 for the gloves
$40 for shoes
$50 for other clothing
$20 for backpack
$30 for fabric
~$100 in some mistakes and ideas that didn't work out.

Just kinda an estimate. It was way more expensive than I ever planned, but now that it's pretty much done, it costs almost nothing to revamp, do some paint touchups, fix minor flaws, etc. Definitely a bigger project than I originally estimated. It was a year from concept to completion.

I'm only about 10% into Miranda Lawson and I can already tell it'll slay me in terms of cost. @___@

Custom-printed lycra with hexagon pattern - $37.50/yard for 3 yards, plus shipping to Canada

Black wetlook spandex - $28 total (12-14ish a meter also shipping)

Plain 4way stretch white tricot - $10

elastic piping - $3-5

Stabilizing paper for spandex applique - $14

pair of shoes for boot covers - I have no idea but I want to keep it cheap because i just need a basic low heel.

Transit fare to visit friends who have sergers - $5-8

wetlook spandex gloves because I am not making my own oh god no - $16

snap buttons, grommets, shoulder pads, interfacing, iron-on paper - already own

fine tip white paint pen - $5-10?

And if I feel like making a prop weapon it'll be another $20-30 possibly. yikes.
