Mask Creation

The most important and difficult part of my cosplay is to make a full-face mask. Pic: http://24.media.tumblr.com/e31c168ae...znqgo1_500.jpg

Most prominent features would have to be a grungy metallic finish and the eyes that need to glow red. I want the mask to be very convincing and realistic, so I plan to go all out on it. So in the end, I'm not sure how the start something like this.

First option would be to use a pepakura model as a base, but unfortunately I highly doubt a model would exist since this isn't from a video game. Alternative would be to create a model myself to use, but I have no experience with 3D modeling :c

Second option would be to just start cutting cardpaper into various shapes and construct it into a mask. That may take a while, and I am unsure with how to continue after I have a prototype paper model. Fiberglass + resin? Paper mache? Some other material I don't know about?

If anyone has any pointers or resources, I would love you forever.
