Fabric Paint?

Hello cosplayers~
I'm trying to figure out the best way to transfer an image onto a piece of fabric without screen printing. I've tried a couple of products so far.(Acrylic paint with a fabric medium; Fine line paint liners)
I was wondering if there are any better product options. I don't want it to look too shiney or pronounced compared to the fabric, or give a dull/smudged edge. Advice/horror stories would be equally appreciated! :]

You could get fabric inkjet sheets. Create an image on your computer, print it out on your home printer onto these fabric inkjet sheets, cut to the shape you need, and then iron onto your garment to permanently affix them.

For fabric painting, I use either DecoArt SoSoft fabric paint or Jacquard brand fabric paints (Neopaque, Textile Color, Lumiere).

Hmm.. I don't have a computer. Do you have any good photos of the things you've painted?

One of my Orochimaru (Naruto) costumes:

The white snake designs on the kimono were painted with DecoArt SoSoft paint. In a couple of photos you can see the full design across the back.

Kuja, from Final Fantasy IX / Dissidia:

I painted all the gold trim on the bolero jacket and the silver trim on the straps around my waist and hip. The bias tape on the bolero was originally either yellow or beige, and the bias tape edging on the pleather waist straps was black. I went over all that edging with Jacquard Lumiere to make it metallic.
The gold border design on the buttcape was a combination of satin-stitch embroidery and Lumiere paints in a gradient blend.
I also used Lumiere to paint the shoulder pauldrons, the little chest and back belts that hold the bolero shut, the detailing on the front and back waist strap anchors, and the "buckle" and toe on the boots. However, it takes way more layers to get a solid coat on non-fabric surfaces.

I did this as a commission for someone. The red flames and the yellow swirls were painted DecoArt SoSoft paint.

Oh wow, those work quite nicely. I think that'll be the route I take. Thanks for your help!
