Cosplay challenge help
My friends and I started a web magazine/blog together and plan to cosplay the site's "logo" character, The Girl. According to our website, The Girl can be anyone/anything as long as she has the following:
I'm really excited to do it, but I don't really know how to start making a superhero costume. What fabrics are the best to use? Do I need to have a sewing machine to do the bodice or the cape? For the bodice, I was thinking of modifying a one-piece swimsuit, but I'm not sure if that's possible or if modifying it would damage the fabric and make it tear. Any suggestions? (The shoes and wig are less of a concern, since I can just buy those, and I have a good pair of black boots anyway.)

the first thing you need is a design, a sketch or idea on paper so we can help you with specifics.*
Dance wear is going to be cheaper than a swim suit. No, you don't need a sewing machine to sew, but on stretchy fabrics it does make to process easier because stretch stitches are a serious p.i.t.a. to do by hand. * no, you don't have to be an artist, you can trace a figure from any source you like then draw in your own outfit ideas.
