Will Weeping Angels be cliche?
Hi there,
My boyfriend and I are going to our first con, the Calgary Expo. I was thinking of dressing as Weeping Angels from Dr. Who. Are these overdone or cliche? I want to do somthing creative, but we're fairly limited (not into anime,/manga or videogames, and we're both fairly short and stocky). Input? |

I say cosplay what you want and what you'd enjoy. Weeping angels aren't a terribly common cosplay, they're just extremely noticeable when they're done. Go for it! Besides, when you compare it to the most popular cosplays, things like Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, ect, it's really not cliche at all.

I would be ABOSULTELY THRILLED to see someone cosplaying a weeping angel, much moreso for two! I think it's a great idea. I saw a couple cosplays of The Doctor last Sac-Anime. Not at all out of place. I've never personally seen a weeping angel cosplay, so I'd have to say they're not cliché. I'd say go for it; I think it'll be unique and recognizable. Unique and recognizable is a good combo for people loving it.

Weeping Angel are definitely not overdone, and any Whovian (including myself) would have a major fangirl/fanboy attack if they saw Weeping Angel cosplayers!!! Do it, for the sake of all of us!!

I remember a girl that was a Weeping Angel at Otakon last year. It was great! Go for it!
And you know, you'll have the obvious poses for when you get stopped for pictures, but the costume also lends itself well to stationary poses (duh :P) for when you need to take a break from walking around, so you have that going for you as well. Just stand in a corner where it's not easier to notice you and "weep", and every now and then stealthily change pose or move to another corner.

Cool, thanks for the encouragement!
My other concern is the wings -- I don't want them taking up too much space in a crowded space. I'd make them folded up, and probably out of cardboard and styrofoam. Any suggestions on tight-space-friendly wings? |
