Calendar, Events, Event Planner open

The event calendar and convention planner are now active.

Please note that we are still ironing out a few small bugs in the layout width, so if you see something acting odd on smaller browsers (under 990px wide), it’ll be fixed shortly.

For the event calendar, we’ve added the queue of events from 2012, so you can add them to your planner. You can add/remove events either from the calendar itself, or from the event’s single page.

After adding an event, you can select/remove costumes you are planning to take or took to that specific event. Once the costume pages are open again shortly, it’ll show your costumes on the event’s page, and the events you wore the costume at on your costume’s page.

The event submission tool is disabled right now while we get everything else working, it’ll be back up by the end of the layout change.

Individual events currently only show the members attending. When the photo gallery and news section open, those parts will begin to show on the events as well. Also, clicking on profile icons will still take you to the maintenance page until that section is reopened.

Since this is the first part opening of the content area of the site, you will notice that the layout widens if you are viewing on a browser larger than 1024 pixels wide. This isn’t applied yet to the forums.

Please let me know if you find any bugs, it's the first section re-opening so any bugs will likely be layout related. We've tested it out on Chrome, Firefox and IE, and it's working on each.

Oh my god it's updated!! <3 Thank you!

I wonder, when the event submission tool is open, will the events be added to the calendar directly or are they manually checked by admin (moderators?) and approved? If they are, how long will this take? I hope not as long as before.

Events are screened by someone in charge of screening them. We check the info on each event to make sure the URL's, dates, and location are correct. Also, a lot of times people submit events that are already added.

However, the old screening tool was broken so we got way behind. The new screening tool shows the events directly in the calendar to the people in charge of it, so it'll be updated each day.

We're also adding editors for each country starting next week, and the regional editors will have the ability to add/edit/update events in their specific country.

So yeah, it'll be updated pretty quickly now.

As a suggestion, for 2011 and 2012 you may want to correct what country Otakuthon takes place in. For 2010 it's in Canada, but then 2011 & 2012 you have it as though it's in the US. And then for a month later you show Montréal Comic Con (which is in the same city as Otakuthon) being in Canada.

Please to fix?

As soon as it is up and running, you can submit events. All of the events are added by the users, so a lot of the time they are incorrect (especially when no website is included in the submission). So be sure once it's up that you fill everything out correctly. It makes everything go faster!

I am so glad to see this function back! <3

Back before the site updates, I tried submitting an old event from 2008 that was never put up. Yes, it's ancient history now, but I like that when I look at my events, it shows a timeline of every convention I've ever been to, EXCEPT that one, because it was never in the database. It's just me being nitpicky and liking my things organized, really, but is there any possibility that they would add in an old event?

I've been trying to add the Tenerife convention each year since 2010 but no succeed. Also other cosplayers from coscom who are also from Tenerife have been trying to add the event, but no success either. We got the website and information right :/ it's very odd.

The event submission tool got pushed back to Sunday (I really needed to take a half-day off on Friday evening), try submitting again on Sunday and it should be added this week while we catch up on past events. If all of the information is submitted properly then it should be added, I'm not sure why it wasn't in the past because I don't go through those.

The only suggestion I can make is to make sure that it has the correct URL for the website, the correct dates and a location listed for it. With the new calendar, events will show up to us in the calendar itself and we just have to approve them with one click. It's much more streamlined than before.

Also, we'll be putting up an announcement for country editors this week, that way each country has a couple of local representatives with access to the event calendar and news sections.

Where do I submit an event? Sorry but I can't find the option And the calendar shows the years between 2000-2006 O.O (ok I was watching another calendar xDDD the one that shows up when I'm going to edit options in my account). Is the submit event option already working?

Event submission is now re-enabled. You can submit any missing events from the Events dropdown in the navigation bar.

Also, please remember that events are checked and approved by the event moderator. We will begin adding the new submissions tomorrow (Friday) and after that it will typically be a 24 hour turnaround.

If you add any events for a future year (2013 and beyond) please make 100% sure that the location and dates have been confirmed before submitting at this time.

Has anyone had their submitted events show up yet? I submitted three events (Animaritime 2012, Harbour Con-Fusion, and Hal-Con 2012) and I haven't seen any of them up. All of the information was present and correct, and I submitted them on the 17th.
