I am cosplaying as kirito from sword art online, and I was thinking of taking just a random black wooden(tryin to save money lol) sword I have because I dont have his sword or know how to make it.
Any of you guys know how to make it? if so could you maybe give me a process of how to do it. I really apprciate it, thanks |

If you have one of those toy swords that has a stiking edge on both sides, you could actually just mold clay around it to look like his..(This means not a katana toy..Those will not look like his in any way)

I made my Asuna Sword using a chunk of wood, a jigsaw, a router and a sander. (:
I basically just cut out the same I wanted from the wood with the jigsaw then I used the router to make the edges (a router makes beveled edges on wood) then I just sanded it. (: If you know someone who works with wood you might want to ask them to help. (: |

Yea I know there's a sword you can use, I can't remember if it's nerf or buzzbee, but it's one of those swords that has the edge going down both sidesIt's the perfect thing, all that's needed is the clay. It WILL however be a bit on the small side..Like any toy sword, they are made for KIDS, so they are way not proportinate

Look for this one..There are online stores galore that sell it, but if you can find it at a store it helps..Maybe walmart or target..Or even some toys r us stores (the bigger ones, they seem to be getting smaller over here..) This one also will work for BOTH of his swords..Which is way awesome..

Pretty much there are two major ways I've been making swords. One is the mostly wood method, the other is a wood and bondo method, but both are similar. Essentially you are going to cut the silhouette of the entire sword out of one piece of wood, then you can create the bevels for the blade either with bondo or more wood and sanding. This should work for the Elucidator, as well as any other swords Kirito comes across since all of his weapons stay within a reasonable sort of shape. Hope that helps! I'll link two of my tutorials for both the wood, and the bondo methods!

I am currently working on a rendition of Elucidator (the sword he got on the 50th floor, introduced in the Lisbeth story "Warmth of the Heart").
My method is pretty much what StabbityBlkMage has mentioned: Wood (poplar, to be precise), jigsaw, router, sandpaper. The other parts can be made from dowel rods, bondo, and more wood, though I've taken to adding a bit of sintra into it. Now, not everyone has a router, let alone a chamfer or banding bit laying around. If you're patient, you can use a $10 rasp (aka wood file) to do the edges. Paints are your choice. I prefer basecoat + clearcoat automotive paints. The link is to my pattern. I normally don't give stuff like this out for free since it took me a stupid amount of time in illustrator, but...eh, it's a gift. http://www.mediafire.com/view/?w1cr0gz3px9hs6g |
