Very large gem - What do?

The one at her waist (the right one that is)

It seems more like a glowing gem than metal to me. While I'm not going to bother with lights on this one (well... maybe.), I'm stumped on what to make this out of. I think casting it out of resin would be way too heavy especially being attached to the cloth and belt.
I can't think of anything I could use for this..

I see you doing 1 of 2 things. Either making a very smooth, domed shape out of a lightweight material and just doing an excellent paintjob (ala Kamui cosplay) or finding a piece of plastic that is already the right shape and size. I googled "large plastic Easter egg" for a while and came up with this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/94576549...g-display-case . This one has sold but you may be able to contact the shop owner about finding another one.

Resin casting wouldn't be terrible heavy. Really truly that would be the best course of action.

In any case if you have access to a vac box, or can build one (it requires some pegboard, wood and an afternoon) you can vac form the gem from your choice of plastic. A translucent amber would be nice. Just get < 1/4" if you're using a household vacuum, we weren't able to pull 1/4" acrylic with ours but thinner acrylics proved favorable.

Stabbity: Yeah uh... I'm not making a whole vacuum press just for that one gem. Maybe later..
Zil: Oh! Giant easter egg, that's perfect! Thank you! xD I wouldn't have thought they'd even come that big
