Morrigan bat wing problem
So I'm stuck with how to attach Morrigans (from darkstalkers)giant bat wings. Should I make a sturdy waist belt thing and make some holes through the body suit to attach them? Or something else? Any tips would be greatly appriciated!

Usually for those, most I've heard used were corset's with steel boning. It'll allow you to retain shape while giving you maximum stability.

DarkCloud's right. A corset would be your best option since her wings are down at her waist instead of up by her shoulders like most wings. This website has a pretty good idea of what the corset should look like:

Thank you guys for the help, that'd how Ill try and attach the wings.
I have another question though. So I thought I knew how to go about making the wings but I'm stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions about making them? I know of the. MakeMemories tutorial on tumblr and it seems a bit too complicated for something like that and I would love to avoid fiberglass, I've worked with the stuff a couple times and it's always been a pain. Plus I prefer the clean smooth look instead |

For my mechanical angel wings, I used some of that posterboard you can get at Ac Moore for about $6 for a 5'x5' piece. I then used wire (coat hangers) to make the general frame or bone structure of the wings and then glued the posterboard in between as the sort of 'webbing'. I then spraypainted them to give them that shiny metal look and it worked out awesome. Sorta like this cosplayer's wings:
http://lyoko-naka.deviantart.com/art...cess-305822888 And they were quite durable. I was walking around for a good 7 hours in that costume with fellow cosplayers knocking into the wings (as to be expected). Yet they still maintained their shape so I was quite happy. |
