a quesion about epoxy

I had just glued two Styrofoam balls and rings to a broom stick, and I was thinking of coating the Styrofoam with epoxy. But, before I do anything, I have a few questions involving epoxy.
First of all would you be able to use epoxy paint on porous surfaces such as Styrofoam, or would it ruin the foam.
Furthermore, I had bought gold folk art paint from Jo-Anne's, so I was wondering if were to use epoxy on the Styrofoam; would I be able to paint over the epoxy with this type of paint or should I use something else?

Thank you in advance.

I have not yet used epoxy based paint. I can't help with that one.

But if you cover your foam with any kind epoxy resin, then you can paint over it with any kind of oil based paint without attacking the foam. Provided that there are no gaps in your coating, of course.
