Body Paint Question

I am planning on cosplaying FLARP Terezi for a Homestuck meetup in April and I have a few questions:

1. What shade of gray is best for Homestuck trolls?

2. The costume requires I only wear it on my face and neck and I can't seem to find any inexpensive sealant, so would it be okay not to seal it as it isn't going to get on anything but my glasses?

thank you very much :3

1. I've heard a lot of cosplayers that do homestuck mix Ben Nye grease paints together (one black or gray with two whites) to create the right shade.

2. If you decide to use grease paint, I definitely recommend setting it. From experience, it'll be hell on earth to have grease paint just sitting on top of your face without any sealant (hair will be your worst nightmare, and good luck if you accidentally scratch your face.)

I'm usually able to find small bottles of Mehron barrier spray for cheap at Hot Topic. If not, I heard some people just use hair spray (I can't comment on its effectiveness.)

Please seal it. Many convention staff have complained about gray splotches on the ground and in worse cases, on the walls. Try spraying some heavy duty hairspray on your face if you can't find sealant. Hope that helps!

Ben Nye 'Final Seal' is pretty popular too. You can buy a small bottle. What about Kryolan cadaver grey?

If you are able to purchase sealant, it's much safer than using hairspray (which is hypocritical on my part since I seal with hairspray...). Hairspray works well, but you would half to basically spray yourself several times as you apply it. Sealant I think you only spray like 3 to 5 times and you're good.

If you don't want to use Ben Nye (since people buy two and mix them) you also can try Snazarroo in light grey (I use the brand, but I mix mine since stores around here don't carry light grey, only black and white) and Mehron creme stick. I don't remember what color worked best from them...

Try Mehron Paradise. You can get a gray and white palette and mix to your heart's delight.

1 cake costs about $10 and will cover your face many, many times.

Greasepaint... is cheap, but very messy!!! I used to use it for Mystique's face and I moved to Mehron Paradise. I threw the greasepaint away. NEVER AGAIN!

PLEASE SEAL YOUR MAKEUP.
As a homestucker, people who don't seal their makeup are a MAJOR cause of much hate in our fandom. as stated above, hairspray if you can't get sealer, but please USE SOMETHING.

Thank you all for your input :3 I totally forgot I made this thread in the first place. XD

I know body paint is the cause of a lot of problems and damaged items, so I know how important sealing is. The meetup just involved us running around a park so it wasn't a huge deal, but unfortunately the hairspray I used to seal did absolutely nothing. Nothing was ruined,
and I was just wondering if there is a specific brand you should use?

edit:I only sprayed once or twice, so that's probably why....

you need a hard hold spray and at least 3 coats if u go hairspray, and spray in between layers!.... in the end i tend to like setting sprays for this reason

As far as the body paint, my Homestuck cosplaying friend uses Ben Nye cadaver grey. If it's that sort of body paint, then I'd recommend using powder rather than spray (which is cheaper anyhow.)

Thanks, I'll try to keep those things in mind

Next time I'll probably just buy the sealant though XD
