Um, cosplay question

Hey all!
Ok, I just wanted some people's opinion on this idea. I was planning on doing a costume from a blizzard entertainment game (Like Warrcraft or Diablo or something.. www.blizzard.com ) to anime central like for friday or sunday. It's for masquerade or anything like that, I just love the game and the art and I've wanted to do a costume from that game for awhile with my friend. This would be my first time to anime central, so that's why I'm a little confused...or maybe this would go in the video game thread (i'm not sure, sorry if it's in the wrong place).
Ok, so the question would be then; would it seem strange to dress up as a non-japanese animation/video game/j-rocker type outfit? I just don't wanna get in costume and then me hated or something when I flew all the way out to anime central. Thankies for the opinions. ^^

If it's not entered for a competition, then no one can really stop you from wearing a costume. Well, I guess they can at AX sometimes, but ACen doesn't do that. So long as you're decent and legal, who cares what anyone else thinks? Do what you love.

(I like your very obscure SO2 avatar, btw. ^_-)

I think whatever costume you do, it would just rock anyways. But to have it in the masquerade, you might want to check out Acen's rules as far as costumes, what can and cant be worn. Ive heard that some cons only allow for anime-related costumes to be worn in the masq, but Acen could be different. Im sure you can find your answer in their forums Here . If you have no luck on the forums, Im sure you can email the person in charge of the masq.

You can do whatever you want as long as you aren't entering it in the masquerade. I have seen people do Star Wars, Harry Potter, LoTR, etc.

Thanks for all your input! It was helpful! ^^ I know it sounded like a silly question, i just wanted to ask since this will be my first time to ACen. ^^ And the first post has a typo in it I realized, it's suppose to be *Not for masquerade* ^^;; Stupid typos! Anyways, Thankies for the input! XD

I know that you can enter the masquerade if you are cosplaying from any anime/manga, however I do not believe you could do just a cosplay of lets say a marvel superhero or something similar. However, I know there are exceptions, say if you have are doing a skit or something and you have need the non anime cosplayer as part of your skit as long as you explain it to them most of the time it will fly as long as the skit is approved(approval is done way before the actual masq, so you will know before masq time )
However if you just want to do a walk out then they wont allow it. Which kinda of makes me wish they seperated the walk out and actual skits, like at reactor. ^^

P.S. I'll double check last years rulebook if I can find it in all my clutter ^^

Look at it this way, if people freak out forget them. I believe you should dress up as whatever makes you happy. If you want to go as some one from a blizzard game then do it and i am looking forward to seeing who you are.
