Trouble styling a wig

I recently purchased a medium length blonde wig for a Human! Teddie cosplay, assuming that I could hairspray it all into the shape I wanted. However, the wig is refusing to swoop up, and I am considering trimming the wig a few inches and then trying to style it up. What do you guys think? Is this the best way to do it or should I try something else?

Your reference link isn't working.

I can say though, you'd have been better off getting a shorter wig. Longer wigs aren't really designed for what you want to do.
