What fabric should I use?

I'm pretty bad at judging what sort of fabric to use for cosplay- sort'v like fabric-blind if there is such a thing!

I really need peoples opinions on what sort of fabric I should use for certain bits of my cosplay! I'm cosplaying Frodo Baggins, and I want the fabric to seem genuine! (I really can't stand satin cosplays)

Heres some reference pictures:

The Shirt: I was going to just use a plain dress shirt but then changed my mind and decided to make a more authentic looking shirt. Should I use some sort of linen?

The Vest: I'm not sure what fabric that is! It sorta looks like velvet- but not shiny? Corduroy? And what colour? It looks red in some pictures, but brown and rusty in others...

The Pants: These sorta look quite tough, not sure if its cotton or corduroy or what?!

The Cloak: This confused me...(lol, what doesnt), I know its wool. But in some shots it looks quite thick, but in others it seems quite soft and lightweight? I have no clue in least about woolen fabrics! -_-'

I'm so sorry for being useless at identifying fabrics! Any help or opinions will be gladly appreciated! (also any tips or warnings about any fabrics or costs etc)

You're on the right page with fabric options.
*Linen or cotton works for the shirt
*Velveteen or corduroy for the vest
*Corduroy or heavy linen or wool blend for the pants might work

The cloaks were woven for the movies, so you won't find anything identical. But wool should work just fine.

If you can find closer screen shots of his costume, you may be able to get a better idea. Or someone else on here can point you in the right direction.
