Waking around in bare feet at a con?

I was planning to cosplay a hobbit- so that means walking around in bare feet.

Should I? They wont kick me out or anything for not wearing shoes would they? I was thinking it might prove problematic if someone stands on my toes..ouch...

I had a weird idea- any opinions would be nice-! y'know the souls of shoes that sometimes you can peel out? If I peeled them out and glue them to my feet, could that prove a little bit of protection to the soles of my feet?

Depends on the con rules. You should ask. But if you're looking for alternatives you can always put tape to the bottom of your feet. Cause I don't think gluing a sole to your feet is good for you. If you do walk around with bare feet by the time you have lunch your feet are gonna be black o.O

Most cons, and hotels/convention centers for that matter, have a policy that you must wear shoes. Best solutions would be to either wear shoes you can slip off for pictures or get thongless sandals. I've never used them, but have heard others talk about them, so you might want to look into them.

Mehdia has a good point there. Flesh-colored flats, and just slip them off for pictures.
You'll want to wear shoes anyway since you'll be walking around a lot. I know going barefoot may sound more comfortable, but that kind of continuous impact will cause the epic ouch! far sooner than something with cush and support.

If you want to take them off for a photo that is one thing, but never walk around barefoot b'cos stepping on something you shouldn't (sharp glass, etc.) can really ruin your day.

you can always get those hobbit slippers thinkgeek has

but even if it was allowed i wouldn't reccomend it just for the likely pain and suffering (moreso from your usual cosplay shoe anyway :P) your feet would experience
next con???
idk lol

Yeah, I wouldn't do it either- a lot of venues have a problem with that due to health and safety issues. I'd go with one of the good ideas other posters have offered, it will save you a lot of grief.

Slip off shoes are good, just for places that require shoes. I love walking barefoot and try to be barefoot when ever I can. I just watch my step
Why do I even bother to keep track of these things? they are constantly changing

I agree with lapseof__reason , buying some Hobbit feet would be best for many reasons. One of course being the hotel/convention centers rules, also Hobbits do have big feet so these would make you appear more hobbit like, and you can always modify them however you like so they appear more natural.

Also this site might help a little

I wouldn't personally recommend it. Unhygenic and possibly dangerous if you were to step on something sharp (I've had both a nail and a cocktail stick stuck in my foot before and TRUST ME anything stuck in your foot hurts like hell) but maybe you could get one of those special shoes that stick to the bottom of your feet and don't show? Or wear something easy to take off and just take it off for photos.

Plus if you're going to a crowded con, you're likely to get your feet stepped on a lot...

Most cons have a shoes-on policy. You can get flip-flops and take them off for photos. I have also seen this girl who cosplays Frodo and Jack Frost who wears rope sandals. They go pretty well with both cosplays.

Putting My Special Opps Staff Hat on

99% of the Cons in North America have a shoe's on policy.

As for the Hobbit footwear they are available may I suggest you check ebay or goggle them.

While many have talked about the safety hazards of going barefoot, I am also pretty sure that your feet are going to hurt like hell from all that walking around barefoot all day.

Just wear sandals. If someone wants to take your picture, take off sandals, pose, done GG. LOL.
I've seen Ryu cosplayers do that.

I cosplay hobbitses and here's what I do:

1 buy cheap shower shoes (maybe trim the edges if they don't match the shape of your foot )

2 cut off the thong part

3 thread clear jewelry thread where the thong was

4 reinforce with e 6000

5 try to cover the clear lines when you glue on your foot hair

These were good enough to get me into restaurants and almost completely invisible in photos
