Dyeing tights

I'm putting together a night elf costume, and thought I'd use arm-socks instead of body-paint on my arms and hands. Unfortunately, the tights I got don't really match the body paint I'm going to use on the rest of my body.

The tights are this colour while the paint looks more like this.

What would be the best way to match them? Is it possible? I'd prefer to change the tights rather than the paint (since I prefer that color), but it looks me ages to sew them so I'd rather not have to start over on a new pair.
"'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe."

You can't dye something dark to a lighter color. You could try bleaching a small portion of spare fabric or in a spot that won't be seen. Keep in mind this will make the fabric weaker and more susceptible to tears, especially since tights aren't that strong to begin with. It's also unlikely you'll end up with the exact right color- more likely you'll have to go too light and re-dye them.

You could, of course, use fabric paint, but I think it would end up looking fairly icky. It usually looks splotchy on tights as you need the layers to be thin enough to retain some stretch. Extra layers of paint for uniformity and they'll end up sagging like elephant skin, plus they'll have no stretch resulting in cracking at areas like the elbows.

It will probably be much easier and look better to change the makeup, unfortunately.
