Hoop Skirt Help?

First off, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. >< If it is, please tell me where I should post it or if a moderator could move it that would be lovely. c:

Alright, so here is the problem. I have a 5-ring hoop skirt that has been perfect for all my cosplays that need one. Belle, Civil War, Victorian, etc. But, today, I received my Silent Night Sona and didn't take into consideration how heavy velvet could be. I tried using the hoop skirt I have always used for my others but it just warps and bends and doesn't keep its beautiful round shape. I thought perhaps I had warped it by folding it incorrectly but when tried on with my other cosplays (I did multiple ones just to make sure) it kept up its beautiful shape. I am looking into getting another 5-6 ring hoop skirt for this cosplay but I cannot think of where I should start. Honestly, I bought all my previous hoop skirts from a particular seller on EBay who sells bridal needs. But, all the boning was the same material so I do not think they would work. Does anyone have any suggestions for where I should look? What type of boning I should get? Thank you for your help!

Sounds like you'll need steel boning instead of plastic

That's the thing. I do have steel inside of it already. XD I would never use a plastic boning, though I have considered making my own with those pipes/tubes. It is just a very thin steel. I can look up the actual name of it if you think that would help. ><

I'd go post this in sewing cause it's much more up their alley but it sounds like the steel is too thin and u need it to be a little thicker. Your gonna have to get out of bridal and either make your own or look at more Victorian style ones as they were made to hold velvet up

It might be steel, but probably not the heavy duty hoop steel that has two lines of incredibly strong steel and is usually coveted in buckram or something. If the fabric is strong enough, you might be able to just replace it, but a lot of commercial bridal hoops are made from only medium materials at best (since they know you're only wearing it once, really).
