Need help/suggestions on cosplay (Cyan Pile from Accel World)

Hey everyone!

So I'm starting to work on this cosplay and I really could use some suggestions on the materials and ways of going about it. This is mostly an armor cosplay. I already started working on the weapon but any help would be appreciated.
The cosplay is Cyan Pile from the series Accel World. Oh, also if anyone has any suggestions on what can be used for the skin suit that is underneath his armor that would be amazing! Haven't done much cosplaying and this is one of my first full armor ones so any assistance, even basic suggestions, would be really helpful.

Here is a full body picture of Cyan Pile with his weapon:

Here is what he looks like from the front:

Here is what his weapon looks like:

Here is what his weapon looks like extended:

I already have an idea of how to extend the weapon but if anyone has any ideas I would be more then happy to hear it.

Any help at all would be appreciated!

Thank you!

To be honest, the pictures are too small to make a good judgement. But as far as I can tell, you could just use a black body suit that could be the base.Something like this: http://www.spirithalloween.com/image...eractive.a.jpg

As for the armor, there are several ways. You COULD make models in any 3D-program and import them in pepakura designer to make paper templates and later on harden them with bondo. To get a global idea of what the point exactly is, read through this: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_G2...hl=en_US&pli=1

Note that it's like 19 pages long, but the information in it is quite informative.

The other method is just cutting cardboxes into the shape of the armor. Either way, since it's armor-esque it needs to be made from solid material. Cardboxes are the better option because it's lighter then the bondo stuff, if you would make your whole armor with bondo then maybe you can't move freely because the stuff is too heavy.

There are many ways to make armor. Fiberglass, metal working, paper mache, and several other ways too. For a cheap cost, I recommend using foams as they are easy to work with and cheap to buy.
There are all kinds of foams out there. I think you can get carving foam and cut it out in any shape you want. Also, you could try simple crafting foam. This kind can be found in any craft store like JoAnne Fabrics or Hobby Lobby or whatever craft stores are in your area. There are lots of tutorials on how to work with craft foam. I recommend this person here: http://www.jedielfqueen.com/elvenwar.../processes.htm
She gives some great examples on how to work with materials for armor.
Good luck on your Cyan Pile! Hope it turns out

Having watched the anime, I saw a lot of his Burst Linker avatar.

Anyway, look up things like making megaman or gundam cosplays. For the black suit, use a black zentai suit and build onto it. I would use EVA foam mat stuff. There are a lot of sharp curves, but there are tutorials on how to make it look that way.

You could also use PVC Foam (sintra) and it will still be awesome, but a little harder. But yea, basically any gundam cosplay tutorial should give you all the answers you need
