Hello!!

Hi everyone!

My name is Amanda and I'm 24 and from Northern Canada, I am brand new to the site and I'm looking for tips on creating cosplay outfits when on a budget! I love Doctor Who, BBC Sherlock, LoTR/The Hobbit, Harry Potter and so much more!! I hope I get to know some of you

Thanks so much!! Unfortunately we don't have much for Thrift shops but Garage Sale season is starting soon so I will definitely be hitting them up in hopes of finding things like Jackets/dresses/etc... that I can modify for costumes!

I love those, too. <3

Yeah, you can find some pretty neat stuff in garage sales. I wish you luck! Who do you want to dress up as? I think dressing up as Sherlock would be cool.

Thank you!! I can't wait until they start up to see what I can find!
My sister and I are currently working on Femme versions of the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors and I would LOVE more than anything to do a Femme version of Thorin Oakenshield. I think dressing up as Sherlock would be awesome! (But I think I would Cross Play Sherlock rather than femme up the character)

Oh cool. I would totally go as Patrick Troughton if I were dressing up as a doctor. I love Tennant and Smith, too. I'm sure you guys will look great.

That would be so awesome, but it would be harder to put together...

I usually just cross play for everything, jaja. But femme versions are cool, my sister is doing that this year.

Oh, almost forgot, welcome to cosplay.com. C;

Hello Amanda! I am Amanda from Southern Canada! http://cosplaytutorial.com/list.php has some seriously good tutorials to make cool, cheap costume pieces for those on a budget. I, too, am working with limited resources and funds and it has been very helpful in making my costume plans.

I cosplay with my sister, too. *high-five* Welcome!

I'm digging your fandoms of choice! (And you wanting to make a Femme version of Thorin Oakenshield? Awesome! I've been knocking around the idea of an Ori costume, but I doubt I'd have the guts to do that, lol.) I see that you said you don't have thrift stores nearby; that's what I was going to suggest (I've found some good stuff at Goodwill), but I have also found some cheap bits that I added to costumes on ebay. Good luck with the costume hunting.
