Warhammer 40k Props

Hello everyone, I am new to Cosplay.com and well, cosplaying in general. I have never cosplayed before and am planning on attending my third Anime Expo and finally partaking in cosplay.

Unfortunately, I do not have a full costume so all I have to show is a few props that I put together. I was hoping that you guys would be willing to let me know what you think about it.

This may upset some of you, but I was juggling between the ideas of accuracy and creativity and decided on creativity. I came to this after an argument with a friend, who told me that things should be 100% reference accurate or it is not a true cosplay. So I am aware that some of my stuff isn't all that accurate.

My Props:

to me id say an imperial guard unit with some spacemarine weapon
(chainsword, bolt pistol) chainsword could be sisters of battle too,
since its the single eged variety

any way, theres alot of gifted and looted arms in WH lore so your friend cant really say its not accurate,
also in any world, theres always going to be some people who customize thier gear
or wear non-regulation armour/uniform
so, i would feel that it adds to realizim, by not conforming to the "copy/paste" nature
of WH style worlds, where as "army based" its easier to clone than to point out everyones
personal taste and trinkets

personally i dont understand needing to be a clone for it to be real,
i mean sure if you make spiderman, you need to stick to the "canon" suits,
(unless your cosplaying a fanfic)
but it dont mean you cant be spiderman and go sleeveless

to me if it exists in what ever world, then its okay,
WH has laser/plasma guns, a starwars gun might not fit the art stylings
but that dont mean you cant make a sustained beam laz-pistol for WH or a chem-spewer for starwars

Was thinking a lower class Imperial Guard Officer since I already made the helmet for it. Unfortunately I am a male and am not looking to cross play any Sisters of Battle.

While you do share a very good point, you need to remember that the Imperial Guard are possibly the most uniform of troops in the Warhammer Universe. Although you have a few variations such as the Armageddon Steel Legion, Death Korps of Krieg, Vostroyan First Born, etc. The helmet that I made is a Cadian pattern guardsman helmet and was using Cadian reference pictures, which led to my friend claiming that "True Cadians this, true Cadians that, blah."

One of the main arguments was whether or not a Cadian guardsman would have "Purity Seals" as that is an Inquisition thing.

Very good points here, thanks!
