Wow - I love that! I almost like it better than the actual Amano version. Great work! ^^

Thanks, snowkirby!
KaineMaxwell: Well, according to the website, the raincoat is 49" long, which is about 4 feet long. I'm going to guess they're measuring from the shoulders down and not including the hood in the length. So if you measure 4' from your shoulders, where does the coat fall? Is it about knee-length? As long as it's not really long, I think it should work fine. You definitely want people to be able to see all the work you're going to do painting those karate pants! Wow, Heidi, that's beautiful! I take it back, the sprite version when properly done CAN be flattering! |

Well I'm mostly painting the pants and shirt like the Amano painting, the jacket too. Likely stick with those on the pic and not deviate.

Thanks, you guys!
I'm very happy with how the costume has turned out, and the runic blade I'm working on will give it the final touch.I wish I could find a Cid cosplayer...it'd be so much fun to call him "grand dad", lol. Good luck with yours, Kaine!

I have problems posing too unless there's a specific pose the character does all the time. Most of the time I just kind of stand there like an idiot. Props seem to help a lot though.

No luck at Wal*Mart on a raincoat and other places like Sears are too expensive for one i want to pain or only have ponchos. Guess I'll get the one i found on Amazon then.

No more progress pics yet, but I started working on the jacket yesterday. I'm using a bolero jacket pattern and using the puffy sleeves from a different pattern. I cut it out of muslin to test and it seems like it should work with a little rejiggering. Hopefully I'll have something more to show after this weekend.

Kinda stuck now on which rain jacket to get for Cid:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...84931?v=glance or http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...=UTF8&v=glance Thing I'm a bit worried about with them is if they'll be light so I can wear it during cons this Summer without dying of heat or anything. I'm so indecesive about stuff.. *groan |

I kind of like the one on the right in the original link (can't really tell, but it looks like it doesn't have pockets or hood drawstrings), but either will work. That one's a little more expensive, though the length and everything seems pretty much the same as the other one. I'm not sure about the thickness. If one rain coat is more expensive and the length and everything is pretty much the same as another one which is cheaper, I'd expect the expensive one to be thicker, but there's really no info to tell you whether that's true or not in this case. Sorry, that probably doesn't really help you decide anything!
