You can get PVC pipe for a couple dollars at the hardware store; you'd just need to paint it.

PVC pipe. Totally. You can glue the joints up with white-glue (PVA glue).

Sand off any lettering or marking with 400 grit sandpaper or it might show through. Wipe the surface clean. Paint the surface gloss-black. Then lightly paint it silver (less is more). After it has had at least 24 hours to dry (longer if possible if indicated on the label), buff the surface lightly with a clean rag. rub some black shoe polish into the joints and all over. Immediately wipe off the excess with a clean rag until it looks nice and natural. Optionally, for extra protection, give the polish a couple hours to dry, then paint the whole thing with clear enamel and give 24 hours to dry. The clear layer sorta reduces the quality of the metallic finish, but it makes it more durable.
