I think I might give this a shot anyway, despite my criticisms from earlier. Maybe it won't be so bad, but you never know.

I really don't think I'd watch it. Reality shows are just... ugh.

I agree, but there do exist different types of reality shows, not just the archtypical "Drama this, drama that" show. In fact Cops was one of the first reality shows, and that was simply a camera crew following real life cops.

Point is most live action shows are reality anyway, and while some are carbon copies, there are a few diamonds in the stuff, so to speak (Oh me and my Flapjack references). Like I said, I'll give this a shot and if nothing else, it'll give me some tips.

I might watch one or two episodes of this just to check it out, but like Oniigiri Basket said, reality shows are just...ick. Whether we watch it or not cosplay still might end up in a negative light anyway...

I'll give it a chance. Reality shows aren't my thing but since it's about cosplay I've give it a try.

I'll stick to my usual formula with reality shows and follow suit with Oniigiri.

Because cosplay is totally about becoming a famousu idoru loved by legions of neck-bearded internet dwellers and not about making costumes of characters you love for the sake of hanging out with friends at a convention and having a good time.

Seems like a SMASHING good time...

I'm not excited about this show. I have yet to see the main media attempt a good portrayal of cosplayers. Most of the time it's mocking cosplaying and our community. I have a sad feeling that this may be drama filled and only showing the "dark" side of the community when that makes up 2% of the actual community.
However before I down right give hate for it I will check out a few episodes to gather a better opinion on it.
I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

I plan to give it a shot - I mean, I already have cable, and there isn't really anything else on that I want to watch (except maybe Face Off, which I caught the finale of last season and looked AWESOME). Even if it's handled competitively, there are plenty of competitive cosplayers - if it's handled like Project Runway, with time limits and whatnot, I could see it being pretty fun to watch! If it's just a big televised Masquerade? That could be cool, too, though probably not very interesting.

I'd just really like to see them follow the making of the costumes shown on the show - LOVE watching things being made!

The fact that this is on Syfy and not E! or Bravo gives me some hope. Certainly this isn't about everyday cosplayers, because obviously, we are boring when it comes to documenting. But I have one complaint:

NO DIVERSITY.

I know it's not SUPER-easy to find really good black cosplayers, but they DO exist...couldn't they have found just one...?

^^Agreed there. There's a guy (Jesse), an Asian (Yaya), and a bunch of white girls. I would love to see Hispanic, Black, or other cosplayers who may not fit the 'traditionally attractive' mold.

I feel what would be more interesting to me would be to see exposure to the 'everyperson' cosplayers. Maybe a show that follows a group of different cosplayers who are on different levels. For example, one person could be trying to pull together their first cosplay, another could have a couple outfits under their belt...all the way up to Yaya and some of the pros. As it stands, this just seems dull.
