LED Help! Very simple.

I'll be attending Otakon 2013 as TPA Ezreal from League of Legends and I'm currently in the process of making his foam finger:

Everything is going well, but I've never worked with lights in costumes/props before and as you can see, the eyes of the mascot glow red. I picked up some frosted semi-see-through material to cover the shape of the eyes and place the lights beneath, but now I need the important part...the lights.

I've been reading up all over the Cosplay.com forums, other cosplay forums, instructables, etc, but everything seems way too complicated for what I think is a pretty small, simple case.

I was thinking of maybe picking up some EL wire and just coiling it beneath the material, but I don't think I can pick it up in such a short length.

I found some red dome LEDs in a local RadioShack (about 1 inch in diameter) that seem like they would work pretty well with one in each eye socket, but I haven't a clue about rigging LEDs, nor do I have any equipment generally associated with the work.

Any thoughts?

Start with something like this. it's written for kids so it will be easy to understand. Some of these books come with kits, which almost invariably come with lights, so the learning kit would not only teach you, but provide everything you need for this costume.

Get an inexpensive toy or candy that has an LED already in it, disassemble it and use the guts. You should be able to find something like this for a couple bucks in the impulse-buy candy section of many stores:

Or, get LED finger lights:

Alright guys, thanks for the tips!

I've decided to go with either finger lights or these circular LED's I came across: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ILXAWJIA S3BN

As far as diffusion goes, I plan on digging the lights as far in to the foam as I can and adding a layer of polyester fiberfill (http://www.amazon.com/Fairfield-Poly...ster+fiberfill) beneath the frosted material, which I read was a great way to diffuse lights.

What do you guys think? (especially about the fiberfill as a diffuser)

Edit: I think I'm also going to pick up a can of frosted glass spray paint to experiment with.

Alright guys, thanks for all the help!

This is my semi-final result for JUST the lighting (need to do some painting INSIDE the sockets still):

I used ONLY the tea lights that I linked above and the fiberfill. I'd say it came out really well!
