Cosplay Body/Face Paint

Hey Guys

So I am considering making a Lady Sylvanas cosplay for the EBGames expo this year - but before start to get the materials together, I want to know where can I get body/face paint from?

Preferably, I would like people who have heard of body/face paint for theatrical or cosplay purpose, OR from people who have had to use body paint before

Any and all help would be much appreciated ~ Thank you

Hi there,

First off, wicked idea!
Secondly, the shade of her skin looks remarkably similar to a character I have cosplayed before. I may be able to help!
Midna has a light blue complexion, and I used a Kryolan water based body paint. It worked amazing.
They have a wide variety of colours and shades, and it is really easy to apply. I found I got a smoother, more realistic complexion when I applied the paint without water, and taking my time. (it does take longer this way, but totally worth it!)

I had the paint on the majority of my body, as you may also have to do, and it stayed on remarkably well, excluding my hands, but they are a tricky place to keep even.
I sealed the paint onto my skin using hair spray. There are designated body paint sealing sprays, which granted, are probably better for you. But I found the hair spray worked a treat.
Hope this helps!

I'm actually off to buy some online - how much did you use for your Midna costume? I'm just wondering if 8mls would be enough :X

Hey there!
So, I never received an notification that you had replied! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
I bought a 30mL tub, and used close to 60% of it for my whole body. I didn't use much water though. It took more time to apply, but I had a very smooth complexion.
I hope this isn't too late for your cosplay!

I have never had luck with water based paints, it may come down to skin types as to what works best.

I use alcohol activated paint because it works on latex appliances as well as skin.

I use Reel Creations colour pots and Isopropyl Alcohol to paint it on. It doesn't come off except on the very tips of my fingers, and even that come down to whether I was able to have a restful painting time or if I was in a rush!

Anyway, I'd recommend trying water based first as you can use sealers like Liqiset which is great. The alcohol activated stuff is no more pricey per paint job but it is very hard wearing.

For my Orc Warrior I used Mehron Paradise :3 It worked really well and then just seal it after with barrier spray.

Used 2 shades, one for base, and the other for shading/contouring then just normal eyeshadows for detail shadows/highlights.
