I need to mold a zipper

I need to make a zipper for my Taokaka cosplay from Blazblue. I am thinking about making the zipper out of plastic by getting some molding clay, shape out the peices, plaster some rubber silicone onto the peices, then take the silicone mold and pour liquid plastic into the mold.

I am saying this because I want to know if this plan would work. I am also making some
blueprints on how the peices are going to look. I will post them once I finish with them.

If you have any other suggestions or tips on how to make the zipper, please tell me~

Does this absolutely have to be a working zipper, or does it have to appear like a working zipper?

If the latter is the case, maybe make a mold that looks like the zipper, but work it on one of the sides of the jacket and use snaps to close. You'd probably have to work the snaps so that it snaps underneath the other side to make it look legitimate, but just an idea that might save yourself from more work than necessary. (This explanation probably looks like the ramblings of a maniac--I'll draw some diagrams if you'd like.)

Another option would be to order from here. Kingdom Hearts is well known for their oversized zippers so... you should get the picture. c: Good luck!
