Home Made Sandals

Okay So this is the first time I am making my shoes for my cosplay by myself. As any of you who cosplay know the foot wear is the MOST important part of a cosplay. (well it is to me at least) If you don't have comfy shoes its gonna be hell.

That Being said I need to make some Sandals For my Iskander Fate Zero Cosplay.
(best picture I can find)
So it seems that the sandals and shin guards are seperate but in some pictures they look like they might be one piece. Does anyone know what material is best to use for shoes to make em comfy? or a tutorial on How to make sandals?

I'd probably use pre-made flip-flops for the bottom, take off the existing straps and make your own straps out of fabric to put through the holes. I'm thinking maybe jersey since it would be soft & stretchy but it might not be durable enough. The foot plate part I'd probably do out of craft foam.

So buy a pair of sandals and harvest the parts I need? Sounds fair. You Mean Jersey Matterial for the cloth on the sandals?

What do you mean foam for the foot plate? Like Take some foam and glue/sew it down to the sandal? if so any specific glue or techniques you suggest?
