Is there a way to lighten a wig?

Is there a way to lighten a wig that is too dark? I had bought a wig recently that I had thought was the right shade of brown, but it turns out to be a very dark brown, to almost black. I need it to be more of a warmer, almost chestnut brown. I'm not sure what type of fibers it is either.

As far as I know, you're stuck with that color. Plastic doesn't dye, believe me, I've tried, and all of it washed right out - I managed to dye the netting, but nothing else. Best thing to do at that point, is try to use the wig for another cosplay, or sell it to something else, if you can't get a refund and try again with another wig.

You'd better not do that.

Plastic does dye it just can't be bleached lighter. If it human/animal hair wig then it can be bleached.

I don't think there is any way to dye it lighter, but you can "paint" it lighter. So if you have the time you could try this http://rirukuo.deviantart.com/art/Ho...-wig-307362430

^ But going from almost black to medium brown is extreme for a paint treatment like this. The example you did was all about adding white to get pale pink gradient. I expect a full coverage ob=ver black with make each strand very crisps.

You can also airbrush you wigs with acrylic pains but again the best way to do it on a lighter wig due the thickness of the paint not needing to be as opaque.

Only if it's a human hair wig. If it's it's plastic, then you're kinda stuck with that color.
