My friend wants to do Ryuuko next year, so I'm debating doing Mako or Satsuki.

As someone else noted, I'm surprised this anime isn't as popular as I would have thought.

I love her sO MUCH. I'm so excited, too, because it's such a simple cosplay to sew, haha. I think I'll make a Guts plush to carry around (and also have something fun and detailed to work on)

Also any character that I can make dumb expressions/poses for always has my heart <3

I'm in a deadlock tie between Satsuki and Inumuta. It's not fair; I love them both so much.

I like Kill la Kill so far. I'm very interested in cosplaying as Satsuki in her unactivated kamui attire. Though I can't exactly figure it out. Because the pleated skirt part looking all neat and one with the other half if you guys get what I'm saying.

I'm looking at how other cosplayers do their Satsuki cosplays and they seem to be making it half and have. Like top and skirt are separate and I'm not sure if I want to do that.

I'd probably make a mock up of it maybe to make sure. Never know...

I just bought fabric for Mako's uniform! It was a really spur-of-the-moment decision to add another cosplay for a con I'm going to in two weeks haha. After this con, I want to hopefully make her two-star uniform!

Nope Satsuki uniform is a dress uniform. To get is form fitting you will need to sew in and invisible zipper into a side of along the back seem. This way you can get into unziped dress first then zip it close after for fit. This zipper will only start 2" to 3" below the collar of arm hole and 1" above the Skirt seam.

The skit part will need to be a seperate piece sew to the body just because you can's really do the type of pleading with 1/5 the body fabric offers you. It the game with ever gather shirt/dress.

But you will notice the pleat are much more prominent then the seam.

You can tell this one doesn't have the zipper in it as it's not form fitted. Makeing the two section much more apparent.

You can also notice the pleat start higher on the hips instead of a striagt line to help the pleats huge the body more.

Today was pretty productive, cosplay-wise! I dyed the collar/skirt fabric for Mako, and attached the collar with the bias tape. I also bought her wig during the Arda sale, so now all I need to do is sew the skirt, add the scarf, and style the wig when it gets here. Super excitedddd omg

Thanks but I know there is an alternative and this cosplayer found it. And today I finally know her name.

She didn't do the separation of the shirt and skirt as far as I can tell. So...yeah...and I've been looking around at patterns like the tennis dress and dresses similar to Satsuki and I kind of get the idea. ^^;

To me it looks like there's a seam where the second gold line is though...
But if it's possible to make a dress without doing the skirt separately I want to find out too for a different cosplay ;-;

There was another picture somewhere were I was pretty sure there was no seam.

Not every cosplay is gonna be perfect sadly. Satsuki may be one of them. Heh. ^^;

Still looking for that picture I was talking about...

Just got a quick question, what kind of fabric do you guys think would work for Satsuki's uniform???

It seems very form fitting so I was thinking of maybe using the same fabric that was used for my Sailor Moon costume. (Jersey Spandex btw)

^If it were me, I would actually do something more like military uniform standard, which would be less form-fitting and heavier weight, like a twill or something.
